Client Challenge
When the pandemic began, specific areas of the government, from local to state to federal, worked together to create a comprehensive vaccination plan to implement upon completion of a vaccine. Working within New York, the government created a consortium of approximately 20 staffing firms to coordinate the deployment of thousands of workers across the state. The client needed data entry professionals, coordination professionals, nurses, people to direct traffic, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. The firms were expected to monitor all of the openings and have staff on-site ready each week. The client required coordination and cooperation by all of the consortium.

The Vanguard Solution
Once each member of the consortium was determined, we worked with the client to map out primary area coverage and ancillary providers. While Vanguard is not one of the larger staffing providers, our approach to collaboration, coordination, and cooperation was identified as one of the primary reasons we were included in up to 15 areas of the state at any given time. Due to the rapid deployment, we utilized existing technology like Microsoft Teams to communicate with all working employees. Channels were created for those staff members needing to move assignments around as well as share important details. Our internal team and external staff of over 750 people worked diligently to provide quality care.

Reporting channels were created to keep the consortium working together, and our team kept no-shows below 1% throughout the project. While this is the largest scale and scope the Vanguard team had ever dealt with, we work just as hard on our daily business of providing amazing staff from one person to many.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that given the statewide progress on vaccinations and the achievement of milestones that allowed the State to lift COVID-19 restrictions, certain State-run mass vaccination sites will begin to downsc ale and shift their resources for localized vaccination efforts. Over the course of weeks and months, a number of sites will downscale based on demand, proximity to other vaccination sites, and other locally focused efforts. The transition reflects the State’s plan to focus resources on areas where zip code data shows the vaccination rate is lower than the statewide average.
